Tidy Towns

Who are we?

We are a voluntary group working in Skibbereen towards the National Tidy Towns aim “to encourage communities to improve their local environment and make their area a better place to live, work and visit”.

What do we do?

Regular planting sessions around the town during the spring and summer. Usually on a Tuesday evening.  We plant beds, tubs and borders along the approach roads, in the streets and parks around Skibbereen.  Through our involvement in the other Sustainable Skibbereen groups we are also involved in wildlife, recycling and composting.

We also organise litter picking days in and around the town and at Lough Hyne.

How can you get involved?

  • Join us on our regular Tuesday evening planting and tidying sessions throughout the Spring and Summer
  • Volunteer to help on our flag days
  • Join our regular litter picking sessions
  • Organise a group to plant up or clean your estate or street
